My background
Hi! I'm Angela Day. I have been working in the healthcare field for more than twenty years in a variety of capacities. I have been in private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist for six years. Mental health is an integral part of being a healthy individual. As a Black woman, I am happy to contribute my education, perspective, and lived experience to your choice of available therapists. I focus on sex therapy because there is an immense amount of guilt and shame in our culture that negatively affects how we perceive and receive sex, sexuality, and gender. Vulnerable populations have been targeted with specific, hurtful stereotypes that can increase their distress about sexuality and gender. I believe everyone should have access to the resources to preserve their sanity, which includes sex and gender expression.
I was born and raised in the American South, and have lived in Seattle for more than a decade. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, a Master of Science degree in Psychology, and a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (with a focus on sex therapy). I studied sexuality, queer theory, and sex work in five countries (so far). I completed the 2015 Network of Interdisciplinary Women's Studies in Europe (NOISE) summer school program at Utrecht University in The Netherlands.
