SEX THERAPY, INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, AND COUPLES/FAMILY THERAPY
I utilize several therapeutic approaches that focus on alleviating psychological distress. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.
My approach for sex therapy involves psychoeducation with an emphasis on developing practical skills to deal with specific problems. I work collaboratively with you to develop sexual curiosity and acceptance, combating the negative effects of guilt and shame. Techniques include relaxation exercises, assertiveness training, role-play, cognitive modification, and self-acceptance. I also support compassion of oneself and others, sexual pleasure, and joy.
Some minority populations (e.g. race, sexuality, gender, disability, age) have an especially difficult time being sexually confident due to pervasive negative messages or a complete disregard of their ability and desire for intimacy. I see you and I hear you.
